My Own Drum – St. Peter’s

Two vibrant Feel the Music! drumming students, one at VISIONS Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and one at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House at St. Peter’s Church, share how class inspired them both to buy their own instrument, continue learning and keep drumming:

“When I had open heart surgery, I couldn’t do much with my hands, but beating that drum, it’s out of this world. I have tried tambourine, etc., but with the drum, I’m energetic…it makes me feel like I have a lot of energy to give out. I leave everything and come to drumming! Electricity goes through my body when I hit that drum…didn’t feel like I could do that before. I could beat the drum right now if they didn’t stop us, just beat beat beat beat…
