Greg Parr
In addition to his musical career, Greg is a New York City firefighter. In musician’s lore, that’s his ‘day job’. By his account, “That’s my day & night job!’. It gives me a great amount of satisfaction, pride and purpose, to be an FDNY Firefighter.” He is a 13 year veteran of Harlem’s ‘The Fire Factory’, Engine 58 & Ladder 26. Greg was actively involved in the rescue and recovery work at Ground Zero & many charity events which followed 9/11.
Greg Parr has been a familiar face on the ‘music row’ of Bleecker St. in Greenwich Village, NYC for over ten years. You may see him among many of New York City’s most popular and intimate spots. ‘Well above Parr’ is just one of the many things that can be said about the native New Yorker’s musical performance. A soloist on acoustic/electric guitar, Greg covers music spanning several decades, from the 60’s to the present, in addition to performing his own compositions. During a typical night he will play songs from groups as diverse as America to ZZ Topp, and by the third song, the whole crowd is singing and clapping along.
